Red light therapy bed

+

Red Light Therapy (RLT) is a therapeutic technique that uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate various biological processes in the body. It’s used for improving skin health, reducing pain, accelerating tissue repair, and promoting overall wellness.

Full-Body Bed: Our full-body RLT bed uses an array of red and near-infrared lights to simultaneously treat large areas of the body. Since red light therapy is most effective when the skin is directly exposed to the light, full-body treatments maximise exposure, helping to promote healing and rejuvenation in a short amount of time.

How Red Light Therapy Works +

Penetration of Light:

Red light (633 nm): This wavelength is visible and primarily affects the surface layers of the skin. It is absorbed by cells in the epidermis and dermis, helping to stimulate cellular processes like collagen production and promoting wound healing.

Near-infrared light (850 nm): This wavelength is not visible and can penetrate deeper into the body, reaching tissues, muscles, and even bones. It stimulates mitochondrial activity in cells, which boosts energy production and accelerates tissue repair and inflammation reduction.

Cellular Response:

  • Both red and near-infrared light are absorbed by the mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell), specifically by a molecule called cytochrome c oxidase. This enhances cellular energy production in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate).
  • The increased ATP production helps cells function more efficiently, which supports the body’s natural repair and healing processes.

Biological Benefits:

  • Pain relief and inflammation reduction: By reducing inflammation at the cellular level, RLT can help with muscle soreness, joint pain, and recovery from injury.
  • Tissue repair and regeneration: Stimulating cellular processes accelerates the body’s natural healing mechanisms, promoting faster tissue repair, reducing scarring, and improving skin tone and texture.
  • Increased circulation: RLT promotes better blood flow, which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to tissues, further enhancing the healing process.

Specific Benefits of Red and Near-Infrared Light +

Red Light (633 nm):

  • Improves skin appearance by stimulating collagen production, reducing wrinkles, and promoting even skin tone.
  • Helps with acne, scars, and other skin conditions like eczema by promoting healing.
  • Improves hair growth by stimulating follicles.

Near-Infrared Light (850 nm):

  • Penetrates deeper tissues to help with muscle recovery, joint pain, and chronic pain relief.
  • Accelerates wound healing and tissue repair, including ligaments, tendons, and even bones.
  • Helps reduce inflammation, making it useful for conditions like arthritis or other inflammatory diseases.

How to Use Full Body Red Light Therapy:

For optimal results, treatments typically last 10 to 20 minutes. Full-body beds are convenient because they allow you to treat your whole body at once, maximising exposure and the therapy’s effects.

Red light therapy is generally considered safe, with minimal side effects, although it’s always recommended to start with shorter sessions and gradually increase exposure to ensure you don’t overstimulate the skin or tissues.
